Joel Anderson is based in Ojai, California. Journalist, Photographer and Artist, Joel has engaged assignments with, and provided professional quality images for, Yamaha Piano Corp., Disney Music, Ojai Festivals, and photographed others (below). Photographic prints by Anderson were purchased by Beatrice Wood for her private collection, now housed at the Smithsonian Institution.
Joel's Formal Education and Experience are grounded in two California State Bachelor Degrees achieved during the same period; one in Journalism, B.A., and one in Art, B.A., with an emphasis in Photography, Graphic Design, Writing and Fine Art. He also obtained an A.A. Journalism degree earlier. Numerous and recognized awards were earned from organizations such as the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) founded in 1909, and Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC - California) founded in 1955; Photography, Writing and General Publication Excellence, Graphic Design, an All-American Rating from the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP), 1921.

Notable Experiences:
• Photographs by Anderson were purchased by renown Ceramicist Beatrice Wood for her private
collection, now housed at the Smithsonian Institution.
• Joel has photographed the Ojai, CA Independence Day parade from 1993 to 2013 consecutively, (40 to 60 rolls of film each year.) In 2014 Joel branched out photographing the Huntington Beach, CA Independence Day Parade, which is the largest Independence Day Parade west of the Missisippi River.
• Joel has compiled an extensive and prolific photographic film & digital archive while photographing a range of subjects. In the process, he has enjoyed a unique view of documentary-art-photography, life. He has also documented his uncle, Walt Dice’ life. Walt was a second generation photographer who traveled the U.S. during the early through mid 20th century, operated a studio in the midwest, as well as early shooting for fire and police departments, and was a superb landscape photographer and studio portraitist. (From time to time Joel still uses many of Walt's revered original vintage cameras such as the model pictured on this page, Kodak Medalist II, 1946.) Walt’s father was also a photographer threading back to the early “glass plate” days of the 19th Century.
